伝統は、江戸時代の科学者であった平賀源内氏が、銅鉱山の技術指導のために火球の原則を適用して、紙球をレクリエーションとして持ってきたといわれています。

Tradition says Hiraka Gennai, a scientist in the Edo era, brought paper balloons as a recreation, applying the principle of fire balloons, when he visited this area to give technical guidance on the copper mine.
